I would like to give a shout out to glorn for putting the idea in my head to use ranged agi + healing ward.
I’ll go over the skills, and hero first.
Glorn advised me to use POTM but I used the huntress because I liked the BAT and Agility gain better.
Huntress:
Chain light
Healing ward
impale
regen innate
Demon spawn.
Introduction:
This is a mid / late game build, i chose to use it on AGI so that i could stop lvling chain light at 7 and rely on Auto-attack farming, freeing up more skill points for healing ward / impale. You want to be playing defensive early on, and farm up. the item build I use gets a crown of the goddess by around duel #2-3 which allows you to almost perma farm. until you get this item however, the build is going to level somewhat slow, so just stay back and don’t gank / get ganked. This build starts to get very good towards the mid game, and duels are nearly impossible to lose unless you get very hard countered. Late game your ward can be insta-killed, but with your disables you should be able to protect it for a while.
How to Duel:
Basically, you want to let your opponent do some damage to you at the start, then drop your ward. After dropping your healing ward, your opponent will do one of two things: He will try to run, or try to kill the ward. If your opponent has no way to kill your mana, then simply let him run away and let your ward heal you, using your range to do some damage and attempt to kite him back in; spamming impale when he gets in range. If your opponent attempts to kill your ward then spawn your demon on him defensively. Only use your demon to save your ward, otherwise: save it for farming. Sometimes, your opponent will have mana burn and try to kite / burn you, which is annoying but not impossible to deal with. simply get a gem and use your disables to prevent running, if he turns to fight then use your healing ward.
How to farm:
When the game starts head towards the center of the map and spam chain on the first mobs. You won't have the mana to efficiently clear two spawns, so just run back and heal/get items. Run back out and clear the two top or bottom spawns by using chain light once and then auto-attack, while you are still level 2, only kill the first three mobs in your spawn, so you can get lvl 3. after getting lvl 3 your chain will hit 4 creeps instead of 3. From here, just apply common sense. For those of you who can’t (IE: don’t know how to creep.) find the lowest level creep spawn on your side, if that is your central creep then clear that spawn and try to clear the top mid, then proceed to your top creep spawns and farm towards your base. If the lowest lvl spawn happens to be on top or bottom, then run to the respective corners (top corner if your lowest level creep spawn is on top, bottom corner if said creep zone is on the bottom.) and then creep your way towards the center until you have to heal.
Items:
The high mana cost of this build initially made me want to use panda, but I wanted to try this build out on mid range mana agi heroes.
Starting items: (This is the rough order of items, sometimes you will have to make a choice based on what you can afford. Ideally you should spend all of your money when you go back to base while attempting to follow this order the best you can.)
tiara + boots.
crown of ages.
2 infused cloaks
(turn one infused cloak into cloak of the fox.)
one ring
Crown of the goddess.
mastery of the ring.
supersonic ring.
ring of the speed demon
replace your cloak of the fox.
eternal axe
scepter of the primarch.
Iron cloak if you are trying to kite, if the game is going to go late (10+ duels.) then cut this item and work towards boots.
How to deal with counters:
If your opponent has some counter (like that mana drain stun thing.) or mana burn. then you should be able to out level them as you have near infinite mana and a strong heal. During duels, try to disable them as much as you can and nuke them down. once you get an advantage, then camp their side.
I will update the counter section as I fight against more and more builds.
Closing thoughts:
This may be one of my most powerful builds so far, once I get mana it farms faster then my Necro build and doesn’t have the bullshit health reduction from ele mastery. for dueling, even if someone dispels your ward early on you still have demon / chain / impale, so you can get a lot of healing off during a disable chain.
