Beta 20 sucks!

Haha just kidding the new map is great. i like it alot more than the previous one.
The map is a lot smaller(doesnt take 35 seconds to run across the map).
I like the new tile set much more.
Also i love the effects in duel arenas! :}
Few things:
(*)What is the deal with creep respawn?
(*)I couldnt figure out the commands for camera view

random floating rocks above spawns are odd,

just like the trees they are awesome cover but can get annoying

Creep spawns are based on the amount of players in game now. Who knows people may want to play 6v6 more now because it has the uber omega creep spawns they like so much.
For now lets wait and see how many bugs pop out of the wood works in this. Oh lol good rick roll post so far all Ive seen was whining on something fairly minor game play wise.

heh, thanks exalted. I intended for this arena to be much more PVP geared. The last one was intended as a 4v4 or 5v5 map, but since it was only played as a 3v3, I had to scale it down.

the creep spawn is based on how many players are in the game, more players grant more creeps.

Camera is locked onto your hero picker, and then your hero, while you are picking. This makes it difficult for you to counter an opponent based on what hero they pick. Also, it makes it so noobs cant click far off in the corner on accident, and spend 2 minutes finding out where the skill shops are. the camera (kinda annoying, but needed) Also locks back to your hero when the game starts. Again, people jacking off in the corner will realize "hey, the game started"

The trees and floating rocks are for the sake of PVP. You can hide in them. If your opponent doesnt know what a minimap is, they get hosed. Also, you can hide wards and summons in the trees. No one knows WTF is going on in there.

Also, what prolly only 5% of players have noticed, and 1% of that 5% understands, is there is now a lot of uphill/downhill to the map; arenas and normal landscape.

I think overall the landscape turned out so well because I had 5-6 people offering great suggestions for it while I was working on it. 5 minds are better than 1!

i like the map
last beta there was a floating whale so i think u can handle some floating rocks.
trees do get kind of in your way in duel but its good for hiding and all and makes you be more aware so you have to see your mini map too.

this isnt specifically for beta 20, but ill just put it in here cuz im lazy as hell.
Sometimes i lose complete control over my hero and it just goes into auto attack mode. I have noticed it happening after using the team switch command{-switch}. But sometimes it happens when the command hasnt been used. Sometimes after like 30 seconds to a minute it will fix itself, but most of the time i have to wait to die. Thing is i gave an ally shared controll and he was able to move my hero but i wasnt.


And no it isnt my mouse.

im sure u can see how this is bad

This happens with leavers click something else like a shop or even a creep then click your hero and you should be able to move again.

^^ this is actually a WC3 error; ive encountered it in many games. kinda silly...

Oddly enough that never happens in dota, but yea its happen in battleships, footment and well all the other games. Dota use to be awesome before people started getting anal about the statistic thing !SD omg hes doesnt have stats or his stats suck jump to the other side quick quick quick.... Fucken pussies ruined dota.

i understand the trees blocking and everything for ganking cover, but in the arenas it just becomes a bitch. if you are in team 1 (i think) u always spawn on the side where there a shitload of trees for the duel, so if u have spells and ur opponent rushes u there u waste a good 10 seconds aiming around. allssssoooooooooo the idea of the map being smaller to make it easier to pvp isnt really working. out of the two games ive played, i have gone full gank build, and even with slow burn slow on them and boots on me they always reach theire base soon enough. the only succesful ganks ive had have been on the conrner spawns.

yeye go ahead and say "maybe its bcuz u suck at ganking" but w.e thats just my opinion

it works really well for me, because there are no side enterances, i ended a game in less than 4 duels in a 3v3

against what level of players.... o.O

you can never gank a pro.... err, almost never. if you fail gank attempts, it is because you are a baddy. I could gank pubs in the old map, and this one is a lot easier to gank in... so if you still have problems ganking, then you cant argue that it is any worse than before. The factors of a landscape have all been increased to support ganking. However, a good ganker needs no landscape! GANKS IN SPACEEEEE!

Anyway, in the arena, get outta the trees if you need your opponents outta the trees? move your screen around? or click randomly. they are there intentionally for cover.

It's easier to target people with spells if you hold in alt, which shows a player's health bar over the trees, and you just click underneath it. You can also turn health bars on permanently so you don't have to use alt in the options menu

Or you could go to the options section and click alway show health bars. Off topic but for those who suck at saving replays you can select autosaved replays and when or if you discover a bug in game go to auto save replay folder and look at the last entry.

yea cuz glorn and smitty tried to gank me like 100 times with their parasite and poison nova combo but never finished it
it was a good plan though it was getting annoying having to keep running away..
i had to look at my mini map the whole time

u should always be looking at ur mini screen, and between duels u should always be checking opponents health for an ez kill.
About the health bar thing, idk how u DONT play with it. imo everyone should have it on.
