first to answer the question...
I currently play mw2 and madden10. I hate madden and the announcing on the game and generally speaking get furiously angry when i play. BUT i love football and its like fantasy football you actually play and its the only legit nfl game right now. I am a fps person but i occasionally get into rpgs. I played the living piss out of morrowind and oblivion. BTW i am an xbox person, and agree that the playstation controllers never have sat well in my hands. I have also noticed that if there is a black guy who is a gamer there is a 80% chance his platform of choice is playstation. no, im not racist, just something i have noticed. I am all about the console games, WC is the only game i play on my pc lol.
now on to my halo rant...
1. i feel like there is not even an argument to be had. the top 2 selling games on xbox EVER are halo 2, and halo CE. the top selling game on 360 is halo 3 by 3 MILLION copies. the halo franchise is EASILY the most popular franchise ever on consoles.
2. considering that CE came out before xbox live existed its multiplayer was actually very, very good. Halo 2 brought the game on to xbox live, added some pretty neat stuff and was generally a pretty good game. Halo 3 capitalized on its name sake and sold an asston of copies. it was faster, flashier, and generally crazier, but the fact that 7 million of the 8 million copies sold were to 9 year olds it hurt the online experience for those of us 'older kids'.
3. the storylines suck? child please. its the classic jihad (holy war for you infidels). its the classic story of mankinds fight for survival. it has the infighting amongst the aliens as one race tries to prove superior to another one. it has the concept of the enemy of my enemy is my friend. at the worst i would say the strength of the story went down hill from 1-3 but 3 wasn't a terribly story. you are just a hater.
4. OP is a retarded concept. IF something is OP and everyone uses it then the person who is the best at it still wins, they are still better than you, you COULD use the weapon and prove you are better with it so dont complain if they do. With that said, the pistol in CE was obviously OP and this is evident in the fact that it was drastically changed in the latter games. additionally, the noob tube in MW1&2 is aptly named, it requires VERY little skill to use, but i dont really get angry at people for using it because its not like i cant to.
5. cheating to me is different than activating modes (goldeneye) or learning to take advantage of game design flaws (super jump in halo) javlin glitch in mw2. to me cheating is doing something that every other person in the game can't do. this gives you an unfair advantage over them. I also would include any sort of hacking as cheating whether its mods to the game or mods to your controller or box. People used to get pissed at me for superjumping in halo because IF i got it off before you killed me it gave me a huuuugely advantageous spot from which to kill. BUT the reason i was so good at it was because i practiced it a lot just like you get good at anything. I wasn't doing anything that everyone else couldnt do if they practiced enough. so yes I also hate cheaters but my defintion is a bit different.
