its not kon, it has a max hosting limit... aka it can only host X games at a time

yea there is a weird deal with ghost one where the GUI is hardcoded to say the max games allowed is 6, i can override this manually behind the scenes but anytime the bot restarts it reverts back to the GUI hardcoded setting. The same thing applies to the autohost when x players have joined, it defaults to 10 for some reason I cannot override it with 6. anyways i will try to work on the bot some tonight, just been busy.

bot is updated with new map, let me know if its not working. The max games is probably still 6 right now but I can work on that more tonight although as far as I can tell there is no permanent fix.

In other news I have been considering for a while using an old pc i have sitting in a back room for the sole purpose of running the bot. It wouldn't even have a monitor setup for it and just sit in the closet hosting away. Since I dont care about the security on that PC as there would be nothing on it, I wouldnt ever have to restart it and therefore the bot shouldn't get knocked off as much.

So long as the bot doesnt get laggy, its all good to me. And id say to max out the games at 10. That way there is a demand with a lack of supply. Basic business.

H makes a good point on both of them. It is your bot, and your call; but too weak of a computer, and your bandwidth means nothing. Also, the 10 game max, I have been setting the bot to that lately, and it works quite well. The number of games hosted per week has stayed about the same; according to mapgnome. The games fill really fast though, and people are always waiting for it to host a new one. Yay economics!

well it only starts hosting one after the currently hosted game starts so its not like you would have several half full games waiting to fill to start.

I know; the problem is though; is that all good, or active members of the community would be playing in say... 12 games... while 1 guy and 1 DLers sit and wait for those games to end before more people join who want to play. With 10, the games end at an equal enough rate that the more active pubs can join the 10th game.

It is like traffic. If you are watching jerry springer and leave 5 minutes later than usual; it is not a problem; you are entertained for those 5 minutes.
If you leave on time, but get stuck in traffic for 5 minutes, you are pissed.... fucking traffic...

If people sit in a lobby that wont fill, they get angry. They think the community is inactive, because there are 100 people currently tied up playing the game, but none in the current lobby. If there is no lobby for them to sit in and be pissed off, then then will be doing something else... Like jacking it.
They finish jacking it, the bot hosts, the game fills instantly, and they get to play. All is good.
