if you are really quick, it sometimes happens, as skills are actually items. I think it can really only be done if you are lagging during skill picks. also, if you accidently double clicked the skill realllly quickly, it could happen. not too sure exactly what to do about it, as it doesnt hurt anything, and doesnt cause anything...
The manashield thing, is random. There isnt much I can do for you. I've noticed the same problem in many other games as well, if anyone knows a way to change this (it happens with immolation also) shed some light on it. Until then, just keep in mind that it is silly to start any fight with mana shield on anyway, so REALLY, this is helping you, if it happens to you!
