| my external harddrive is malfunctioning, and it shows it as an unknown device, and i cant access the files. so, you may not see a lot of me in the next week or so | |

| oh ok, i know vista has an issue with recognizing devices randomly but havent seen it on 7. have you tried hooking it up to another PC? | |

| i just somehow managed to connect it and copy all the files to my actual HD. hopefully they all still work. lol | |

Applies To: Windows Server 2008
Device Manager displays the following message in the Device Properties dialog box, on the General tab, in the Device Status text box:
Windows cannot determine the settings for this device. Consult the documentation that came with this device and use the Resource tab to set the configuration. (Code 34)
Diagnosis
The device requires manual configuration.
Resolution
Change the hardware settings by setting jumpers or running a vendor-supplied tool, and then configure the device in the Resources tab in Device Manager.

| aww that sucks, maybe if u took it to a repair shop or something?
Then again, in the States most people just throw away their things when they break and buy new ones. I noticed that when I lived there, but is it cuz things are too expensive to get fixed, or just cuz people are too lazy to go to the store and ask and wait?
In Chile, when something is broken, we take it apart, combine parts with other ones that have broken, make a fully workable one and sell it =) | |
